Pours cloud, pale golden straw (SRM 2-4). Some fine carbonation forms in columns below a short lived puffy one and a half inch of head. The head quickly falls to a thin veil, leaving no lace on a Weihenstephan weizen glass.
The aroma opens with dusty hay and light horse blanket. There is some sense of clove and banana, but very little.
The flavor opens with toasted wheat. Vanilla, clove, and banana are all very mild. Some bubblegum shows up late, once it has warmed significantly. Bitterness is surprisingly high. The finish is long and phenolic with strong astringency.
A medium body with decent carbonation that is less than expected. Alcohol is far more evident than 5% would suggest. It has a texture similar to rough nylon.
While a decent beer, I think it is far from what a Hefeweizen should be. I found it to be difficult to drink as it warmed up.
