This one pours very dark copper brown (SRM 30-32). A light khaki froth settles from one to one quarter inch over the course of several minutes. No lacing is left to decorate Sparkles, a Pretentious Glass Company dimpled mug.
Rich malt opens, followed by molasses and brown sugar. Warmth brings out lightly toasted wheat bread.
Mild roasted malt and cold black coffee leave an initial impression. Walnuts and Brazil nuts follow. It has a light bitterness and a mild finish that is dry and lingering.
This one has a light body and the texture of scratchy nylon. Alcohol is light, as expected. Carbonation is active and fizzy. It has a light astringency that becomes more pronounced with warmth.
This is a good drinking beer, however, I found it to be more akin to a robust Brown Ale than an Oatmeal Stout. One could easily session a few rounds while playing pool and chomping peanuts.
