my first from these guys, a bomb of a triple ipa, done exclusively with chinook apparently, and quite a bruiser. the alcohol is all over the one, the hop intensity is high, and its a slow sipper, much as its quite enjoyable. a little raw to me, some shine on the pour but also some flakey sediment in the light, copper to even kind of red in the glass, a lot of malt in an effort to balance the insane hop load, short white head from the tap, average carbonation. this beer is sweet, piney, and dank, a little sticky and plenty boozy too. hints of honey and graham cracker and maybe a little something richer, toffee perhaps, in the center, a lot of grain here and a lot of body, but it also maintains some smoothness too. the hops have orange marmalade and heady weed character, some floral character and oiliness on the palate. clean on the ferment, less bitter on the swallow than a lot of these at this size, and even though it doesnt look super polished, the flavor and overall quality is good. a nice introduction to this brewery for me, a lot of power in this, boozy and big, but well put together and a cool expression of chinook hops, fruitier than i think they ordinarily get credit for being. good minerality and bubbles and aftertaste. solid.
