tested from bottles bought at the tap room, 2020 release.
Taste: The smoke is light duty and mellow. bread, grain, hint of caramel, and a fruit maybe apple. Just slightly sweet at first. then more neutral.

This beer pours a nice golden color. Fairly clear. Nice carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. There was a nice 1 finger, white, frothy head.
The nose has a very nice smoke aroma. It is very pleasing, but not overpowering.
The taste is smoke forward. It hits you, but at the same time it's mellow. It's a strange taste. The type of wood used to smoke has an effect on flavor, and the wood used to smoke the malts really works in this beer.
This beer feels pretty full bodied, in spite of the low ABV. Not watery at all.
Overall, one heck of a beer. I wish I would have bought more than one sample pack, because I wish I had more of this beer.

Yet another new & obscure (Smoked) Oktoberfest, thanks to Joe for sharing!

Saturated golden orange, compact head of white foam, about a finger or two in width. Clarity is good when decanted. As it settles, a sticky collar forms with larger bubbles embedded into it. A drippy halo of lacing coats the glass.

Malt sweetness and smoke combine in the aroma, also a little fruity note of baked apple.

A pleasant combination of light smoke, toasty malt sweetness, light notes of plum and apple. Smooth bodied, supple feel with light carbonation. A little thin, but pretty flavorful. Overall it's an interesting hybrid, kept interest enough to drink on multiple occasions.

A heavy pour produces a a fingers worth of antique white head that becomes frothy as it settles and leaves behind handsome drink lines. All of that sits atop a sunset orange body with a touch of chill haze and some lazy carbonation. Whispering Embers is an appetizing looking beer.

The beechwood smokiness on the nose is much more subdued than the rauchbiers from Schlenkerla but it does flit around the surprising fruity maltiness. The malt shows signs of toast, light caramel, prune, and orange while a soft floral hoppiness rounds things out. The fruitiness subsides as this beer warms It smells good but it seems there's a little something missing.

The smoke is more pronounced in the flavor but never reaches that strong campfire, pork product quality I love so much. The smoke hits strongest upfront then fades to an accompaniment while the toasty malt and previously mentioned fruits take over. There is a touch of caramel sweetness. Nice balance.

Each drink begins with some malty heft but it quickly fades into a body a touch to thin for the flavor profile. The smoke leaves a coating on the palate that grows with each drink. Finishes fairly dry with enough floral hoppiness to feel a touch of bitterness on the cheeks.

The fruits are throwing me for a loop a bit but overall it's an enjoyable beer. The body, in my opinion, is the weakest part of this beer as it thins out so quickly. At the price I'd pick this guy up again. It's an interesting take on the Oktoberfest and Rauchbier styles. Less smoke than the Bamberg versions and more fruitiness than your average Oktoberfest.
