Preliminary pregame spot before a Trecena dinner at Santa Masa down the street. Those tamales will change your life.

Small neighborhood pub with tin ceilings and classic Chicago bar stylings, a few local firefighter memorabilia pieces were on the back bar. Cozy feel, fairly loud with the music and crowd.

On a Thursday night at 5pm the place was packed. Big groups of locals, the bar was full too. They definitely hustle here, constant food running from the kitchen & bar. As such, it took a little while to get beers and close our tabs. The bartender was a pro, but they needed at least two.

Beer selection was fine but limited. A small handful of imports like Krombacher, Ayinger, and Chimay. OIB Beezer and FFF drafts for locals. A lot of macros.

Will return to try the food, everything I saw looked good, and they have a couple cajun menu items.

Decent local neighborhood spot on the far NW side. Check out Santa Masa, Nottoli, and Pho No. 1 nearby to make a day of it.

Latest Visit 12/22/25 (Chicago, Illinois): This is a neighborhood bar which has great bar food, solid specials, and always a few up to six solid draft tap handles.

Vibe: Mostly neighborhood folks here. Music and bar can be loud, especially in evenings. Mostly rock music, sometimes sportsball with audio on several TVs, with a good mix of sports channels available. 3.5

Quality: They have a solid mix of domestic and import beers, but my friends and I like to come for their solid food, especially for a bar, and their specials including $5 draft beer Mondays, and buckets specials for folks who like domestics. Typically a few beers I’m excited about, including solid international German beers and local craft options, though not a lot of depth beyond those options. 4.25

Service: Courteous and welcoming. Usually only a bartender and one server, but they hustle and get the job done. Can also reserve a table or two for a larger group. Glassware clean, beer served with proper head. 4.0

Selection: They have two dozen bottles and cans including KBS and Daisy Cutter. They also have 12 draft taps, clean draft lines, and a few rotating handles plus for a few years and counting a permanent 3 Floyds Zombie Ice, Krombacher Pils and Ayinger Brau Weisse which are my go tos served in proper glasses and a great deal at $5 Mondays, $6-$8 regular price. Again, not a huge place for depth, but what they offer especially for a local neighborhood bar is solid. 3.75

Food: A chef bought this place a few years ago, and they have solid food, very flood for a neighborhood bar setting. Many come primarily for the food. I enjoy their wings and fish and chips the most, the former I ordered on this visit. 4.5

Overall: This is a solid neighborhood bar in a neighborhood with limited options and virtually no craft options. Kid friendly, they have a small patio for summer dining. Their bathrooms are small though clean. Overall, a place I enjoy visiting for their quality beer, food and service.
