Gathering a generous crop of local wheat to accompany their German-styled ale, Trellis brewers attempt to stand out in a crowded wheat market leads to a freshness rarely seen outside of Germany.
Innercity Wheat brings a cloudy pour of goldenrod and pastel straw along with a frothy stark-white crown. As its fresh and bready scent rolls onto the nose, so do an awakening bouquet of bubblegum, banana, clove, vanilla, citrus and apple. Creamy sweetness provides a pillowy upstart of fresh baked bread, light sugar cookie and softer suggestions of vanilla cream. As the bold ester profile of fruitiness lead with banana, a background of lemon and apple complete the fruit cocktail, only to see a balance of clove, mint, white pepper and vanilla spice to follow. A smooth bitterness from hops seem herbal with mint, parsley and lemongrass with barely a mention.
Medium bodied and remarkably complex compared to its refreshment, this style simply sings when in the capable hands of capable brewers.
