MAY 2026.
A celebratory beer celebrating the first anniversary of the "Beershop Enoteca La Sciabolata" in Rome's San Lorenzo neighborhood.
This is an existing recipe from the beer firm Resaka Brewing Tribe (which brewed this beer at the Birrificio Altotevere in San Giustino, in the province of Perugia, Umbria), for "DRAGONE" - DDH IPA (6%) Single Hop Styrian Dragon, hops from the Styria region of Slovenia.
33cl can (€5 from the beershop's fridge where it was brewed).
Freshly opened, it offers a subtle aroma of noble hops.
When poured, it is golden in color, slightly opaque with a light, though not abundant, head.
Once in the glass, fruitier and citrusy notes emerge.
On the palate, it has a medium body with a noticeable, if slightly subdued, carbonation.
The initial palate is characterized by notes of yellow-fleshed fruit (peach, apricot) with tropical nuances (guava, pineapple), quickly followed by more herbal and resinous notes that close the taste with a dry finish, without any notable residual bitterness.
Throughout, the malty component is noticeable, without being overwhelming.
I consider it an excellent product for learning about the characteristics of this Slovenian hop, which, in my opinion, perfectly blends the characteristics of a noble hop (herbaceous, almost earthy) with those of a more modern hop (aromatic spectrum ranging from summer fruit to tropical).
A balanced beer, true to its style and... "educational" for learning to understand the aromatic characteristics of this Slovenian hop.
