A- Black body with minimal head and lacing. Bubbles that are left are chocolate brown in color.
S- Lots of bitter chocolate, black licorice, and a touch of anise. A touch of ethyl burn is at the end of the scent.
T- Harsh, bitter chocolate comes out first and then transforms into the anise from the scent. The chocolate is there, but largely covered up by both the anise and black licorice flavor. The ethyl from the scent also translates into the flavor. Lingering flavor is of bitter black licorice and slight astringency.
M- Drinks rather thin, yet has a big alcohol presence. Not much else to be said about the feel of the beer, it's just heavy in booze and not weighty enough to support it.
Overall, this would be good for a homebrewed chocolate imperial stout, but from a commercial brewery, both the flavor and feel are lacking.
