12 oz. can:
Pours very dark brown with a thin head that dissipates. Some lacing sticks.
The smell is of rich chocolate. Enough of a bread touch to make it reminiscent of chocolate cake.
The taste is of bittersweet chocolate. Very little roast. Mainly delicious chocolate.
Hits medium-bodied. Smooth.
A very pleasant chocolate-forward porter. Easy to drink. Enjoyable!

Fish Brewing Company "Fishtale Porter"
12 fl. oz. can, coded "2018071 33800P0311 47191215"
$3.79 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: So is this a new beer from Fishtale? I don't remember it from before. Moving along, I appreciate that their beers are organic, I wish more breweries could do that, but what about coding your beers so that we know how old they are? What the hell does "2018071 33800P0311 47191215" mean? Is that a Julian code right at the start? Why hide that? It makes no sense. Anyway, it pours an impressive head of creamy tan overtop its very dark mahogany brown - almost black - body. The aroma is clean, offering some dark chocolate and roasty notes. The flavor brings in some additional dark caramel, a light bit of nuttiness, some mild leafy and tea-like hop flavors, and a stiff bitterness. It's not that complex, but it's got a fairly bold flavor to it. Who needs their porter complex anyway? Certainly not me. It's very drinkable as is, leaving a dry, ashy roastiness lingering shortly. Looking back the head is still there, very short, but still solid across the surface, and there's some very nice lacing as well. In the mouth it's medium leaning medium-light in body and smooth with a gentle carbonation. I could "session" a few of these. Nicely done.

this was a nice light style porter with a crisp, dry finish.
