Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: dark brown hue with a little haze and a thin head of tan foam. Not much in the head department, but nice color.
Smell: hints of chocolate and toffee on top of a malt base that, while not super dry, necessarily, is not super sweet either. I like it.
Taste: malt is a little sweet but has a roasty character which provides a bit of a drying effect. Bitterness isn't super high, but it's there; overall a solid dry Irish stout.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a low carbonation and a moderate creaminess. Could use more carbonation, for sure.
Overall: a pretty tasty stout, though the carbonation isn't great, at least not in this particular can.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head with good retention and slippery lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, coffee and a bare hint of toffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and hints of toffee; flavor tapers off in the finish, but some mild milk chocolate and coffee lingers. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant dry stout with a little more than expected char and good coffee and cocoa notes. As noted, the flavors are subdued in the finish, but some faint suggestions of the coffee and cocoa persist. A tiny bit sweeter than usual for the style, but in a good way.
