Had on tap at Hesseneck, one of the few bars where Schmidt beers are even available at all. They said they got two 20 liter kegs of the Festbier and that's all for the whole year. So of course I had to have a few while I could. Once again, this brewer is a master of his craft. The freshest, tastiest Festbier I can recall ever having. Appearance-wise this looks a lot like the Helles, though very slightly darker, more deep golden than yellow. Also like the Helles it's a bit cloudy. The smell is strongly bready and inviting. The taste is full of everything I look for in beer: biscuity, malty, notes of honey. Not much of an alcohol taste despite being a bit stronger than a normal beer. The feel is extremely drinkable while being satisfying. Overall I'd say this is just about on par with the Helles and ranks among the best beers I've ever had in my life.
