No date on can, into an Ethereal Brewing tulip.
Pours a hazy light orange with good foam which lasts for a while and good lacing. Aroma is super bright, very punchy, and incredibly strong. Tons of grapefruit zest and orange rind alongside a little berry. Flavor is fantastic, quintessential NZ hazy hop flavors. Some gooseberry and white grape as well as a little grapefruit and orange, as well as pretty dank and vegetal but with just a touch of the Nelson diesel character on the finish. There's some good cream and vanilla from the malts, but mostly they stay out of the way of the berry flavors. There's a spicy bitterness on the back end and it evolves into even more grapefruit moving out of the malts as well. Not incredibly complex but with an enjoyable finish that definitely elevates the beer. Feel is good, pretty thick but also medium bodied and easy to drink. The carbonation adds a slight bitter twinge but doesn't interfere with the flavors much otherwise.
Overall, I bought this one based on the can art alone, but I really really liked it. It's of course 12 Percent, but it's just a good recipe and a well done beer that delivers on the promises of the hop bill.
