i didnt expect to love this but i did! so often these fruited blonde and golden types end up sweet and inauthentic, over flavored, but not this one, it still tastes like beer at its core, aided i think by a little more malt than is common in these, although in no way is this heavy or anything, the strawberry hits jammy but real, and the little bit of lemon brightens it up, faintly piquant against the natural sweetness of the berry, well balance and not dosed too high, super summery and even refreshing, which i think is uncommon in there. red florals, red currant, and even winey nuance to this, really ripe strawberry up front, more from the grain a little later, faint toast, very modest residual sugar, i didnt taste their blonde on its own, but now i want to. good minerality here too, gives it some additional interest on the palate, and there is a bright and fresh vibe to this, a lively feel, that suits the fruit really well. im surprised it didnt take more color, the strawberry is very forward in it, but whatever, this is way ahead of the curve in a style im often not wild about. these guys are making some clever beers, glad we had time to pop in for a few, what a life!
