A pint glass served at the brewpub on Broadway in Detroit.

A: The ale is a coppery amber color, hazy and sediment-laden. A finger and a half of head laced in strata as I consumed it.

S: The nose is a sucker punch of intense hops followed by candi sugars and pepper. A combination of sweet and bitter that didn't disappoint me.

T: The combination of hops and candi sugars works on just about every level. Hops are grassy with citrus strength. They don't numb the tastebuds; rather they set the stage for Belgian flavors. Candi sugar and pepper, along with Belgian yeast, kick start the hops. The ale is strong but the flavors never bogged me down.

M: Hops and sweet sugars, what a great duo. The two stand out separately but together they make magic.

D: At nearly 10%, this is no quaffing ale. I enjoyed the hop profile and would not complain if you handed me another one.
