Tasted this beer by half-pint at my local Wetherspoon's pub in East End London this afternoon. In my memory this beer seems to pop out once or twice in every season at the Wetherspoon's, so I guess it might be quite popular and available all year round.
A: it pours a dark amber hue, with a very thin and foamy head against a very static body...looking just o.k.
S: there's an overwhelmingly nutty aroma upfront, with a mild, rounded and aromatic hop note sustaining at the back; the underlying tone is solid malty but not overdone. Very subtle as well as delicious...
T: initially the malty flavour hits the palate with a slightly, refreshingly tart edge of raw-nuts; slowly a rounder nuttiness expands in the mouth, leading to a vertical flavour with very very dry mouthfeel on top of an underlying bitter platform.
M: the mouthfeel is very soft throughout at an ideal temperature, while a lively touch of sourness well balances the nutty and malty body.
D: a full-flavoured bitter with a distinctive, nutty taste. Strongly recommended!
