This time Big Country returns as a decidedly fall pilsner brewed with a hearty addition of Spelt from Moon Family Farm in the Horse Heaven Hills. Big Country has come to define our lager program and the ideas behind it: experimental and steeped in good brewing practices and second-to-none lager practices. Anyway, Big Country is really delightful with a nice poofy, pillowy layer of foam on top. It’s perfect for the season and I would say perhaps even appropriate as a “Festbier”…

Clear golden amber brew with plenty of foam in the tall Petrus goblet. This even has that "perfumey" aroma that I associate with the authentic Kölsch style. Flavors of melon and a touch of resin. Distinct bitter aftertaste but it's just right for the fruity hop flavors and the slightly sweet malt. The modest alcohol adds to the drinkabilty but it's got plenty of flavor in every direction. I call this the best German-style Pilsner of this year AND last. From the 16 oz can. Hops are Hallertau Tradiiton and Spalter Select.
