I made a quick weekend jaunt into Belgrade from my home base in Budapest a couple weeks ago, and discovered they've got a pretty good beer scene down there! My first stop was Docker Brewery, and honestly I couldn't have been more pleased. They had 16 beers on tap when I visited, plus some cocktails on tap for the non-beer drinkers. Styles were a bit heavy on the trendy, with four NEIPAs, three sours, a sour IPA (heh), three other IPAs of various description, a pale ale, a light lager, a dark lager, a hefeweizen, and a "dry lager". I had 3 of their different hazies and they were all really good — I was very impressed by the quality. The dark lager wasn't bad either!
The location itself is a big kinda warehouse building down by the river in an industrial area that has been rehabilitated to be bars and restaurants and stuff. There's plenty of big communal tables inside, and a huge outdoor terrace as well — I was here on a friday night and it was completely packed. The brewhouse shares space with the big communal tables, which was cool to see. You just walk up to the bar for service, and you can order just fine in English — no Serbian required.
One note of warning: you can still smoke indoors at bars in Belgrade, at least as of 2024, so just be advised of that when you go in there and there's a bit of a reek. My advice is to just get a beer and sit on the terrace.
