Cask. Sparkler used. Dark brown with a thin dense head. Creamy lacing.
Malteser like smell. Sweet and toasty.
Fruity and very well balanced. Distant dark chocolate with hints of vanilla. The sweetness counteracts some charred bitterness.
Cask conditioned feel. Quite full in body yet easy drinking.
A really enjoyable dark mild

Dec. 2015: Cask pint at the Leyton Orient Supporters Club. Very dark ruby color, nearly black. Small beige head. Moderate malty aroma. Very nice malty / slightly roasty and fruity flavour, hints of mild coffee, chocolate and blackcurrants. A pleasant mild.

On cask at the GBBF, 2011.*

Chocolate ruby with film. Chocolate and red berry on the nose.
Chocolate bark, slight wet ash and red currant up front, a spicy Dr Brown's Cream hit in the middle, leaf and bark hops.
Cola syrup finish and barky linger. Light to medium, soft, slight cling.

Balanced to a fault - what distinguishes this from being just another nice mild? Very drinkable, though.

*Supreme Champion, 2011.

Tasted by half pint at the Wenlock Arms, London, on 24/01/06.
A: pours a very dark brownish hue, with a fluffy head, static body.
S: light and fruity, with touches of dark fruits and red grapes, but overall a touch too timid.
T: fruity overtone, mixed with grapes and plums, backed by a flow of burned maltiness and a slowly intensifying bitter hoppyness, turning dryer and dryer with more hints of roastiness at the back.
M&D: extremely smooth and light-bodied, this one really is not bad at all. A dry-ish yet fruity mild, though it could use bolder flavours, just like Oscar Wilde himself~~

Sampled at the Luton Real Ale Festival.

This mild ale poured a clear, dark, coffee brown (with red highlights) color with light brown foam that settled. The smell was a tad tart with sweetish malt and hints of coffee and caramel. The taste was dark malt with a touch of sweetness and some caramel. There was a brief hop bitterness in the finish. The flavor was mild with low hop presence. The body was medium-light with low carbonation. The flavor lingered nicely but briefly. This was a very decent mild ale.

A fairly pleasant mild. Bready, grainy malts, with some light roast and chocolate. Smooth and simple palate, with a short finish, enjoyable, but nothing outstanding, probably a text book version of a mild, i.e, not really exciting or anything (Cask- ChelmsfordBF 03')
