OY has updated its strong lager, so it now tastes even better. This is an ordinary Strong Lager of the good old kind, which suits most Faroese. Only now is the hop replaced.
Gullregn is a so-called Strong Lager with 5.8% alcohol.
- Now that we have brewed more Gullregn, we have tried to brew a regular Strong Lager, which the Faroese like. It is a beer that has a clean taste and is not too bitter. It has two new types of hops, is silky soft, round and wet, says Alesandro Ersettigh, brewer at OY.

Copenhagen 5/6 2024. 33 cl can from Meny, Vermlandsgade, Kbh. S. Black can with small raindrops in gold.
Pours slightly unclear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as thin, almost transparent layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor with a chemical streak. Metallic alcohol. Pale sweet malts, glue and bread. Sharp edge of alcohol.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitternes. Aftertaste is sweet and a tad sugary. Lingers for a while. Finish is sweet and boozy.
Sweet Pale Lager packing a punch.
