Fort Myers Brewing Co. "One Pint In Bankok"
$4 / 10 oz. on tap @ The Sunny Pint, Wildwood, FL
This is a "Thai iced tea red ale". I wonder if it's made with an iced tea mix. I'm not sure who spelled Bangkok wrong, or did they do it on purpose? It's certainly not right though as the official name of Bangkok is Krung Thep Maha Nakhon. It’s a hazy reddish brown beneath a short head of creamy antique-white foam. The aroma is fruity and mildly spicy. The flavor follows with some cherry, apple, and light spice that includes green cardamom and perhaps some vanilla in a bready and caramelish malt base. It’s soft, lightly sweet, gently spicy, and refreshing. A moderate bitterness balances it in conjunction with the spices. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp with a moderate, fine bubbled carbonation. I’m pleasantly surprised that the spice isn’t overpowering, and actually quite restrained but still present. Nicely done. If I had the opportunity I'd reach for this on a regular basis.
