Pours a clear gold, with an off-white head that disappears to a ring. Slight funk on the nose, with apple and celery. Very nice savoury aged malt taste, some apply hops in the background, and a herbal note towards the end. Finishes with hoppy bitterness.

Probably one of the very best Pale beers ever brewed. Around since the early 1980's. In the 12 years or so I've been drinking it, the consistency and quality, while evolving, has never been other than outstanding. It is simply a show case, of how quality low colour Marris Otter and East Kent Goldings, along with Goachers own yeast strain - plus, attention to detail, and not a small amount love - can produce a world class product. 5.1% - Bright sunny yellow, smooth and rounded, and full on the palate. Balanced in every regard, with just the right amount of maltiness, herbals, light spicing, and a gentle bitter finish - which subtly lingers in the taste buds, and then demands having another. Just so as to remind oneself, how good this beer really is. Of course my subjectivity is involved. But, I've drunk a fair few beers, in many and varoius locations, over the last fifty-odd years. I can honestly say, there are not too many beers that reach this level. It's fair to say I like it !!

(Cask- Man of Kent, Rochester) Watery, grainy bready, some caramel, with a citrusy hops finish, not really that interesting, below average. But i was also at the stage of the day, that my palate was shot too pieces from a long day at the Kent Beer Festival.
