A - Dark black with a smaller than average tan head. Creamy, foamy head that disappears pretty fast. Little lacing left.
S - Burnt/roasted oats and malts. Dark sugar and caramel bread. Hint of chocolate.
T - Similar to the nose. Dark malt, grains, and bready taste. Some toffee, caramel, as well as some dark chocolate and coffee. Similar taste to other lighter stouts and porters, only a bit sweeter than regular stouts and porters. Slight nutty taste.
M - Medium to full body with lower carbonation. Very chewy and quite creamy as well.
D - Good. Silky smooth and creamy feel and full mouthfeel are nice, espicially for the flavors. Good mix and balance of bitter roast/burnt taste and sweetness.
Notes: Chewy and full stout with good bitter and sweet flavors. Is it amazing, no. But it is a good example of stout flavors and has a very nice feel to it.

A - A black that turns a kind of brownish when held against the light
S - slight nuttyness, some faint caramel notes also but it has got that slightly stale whiff that some british beers unfortunately have
T - I taste nuts but the whole thing has a metallic slightly off overtone that drowns out much else
M - Flat what can I say and too dry as an aftertatste
D - One of the few beers I never finished

The first Oatmeal Stout I have reviewed on this site. It came in a brown 500ml bottle.
Poured (twice) into a Gordons thistle shaped glass so I could see the colour and head more clearly and give it a chance to breath.
Deep, deep black, no hint of purple or ruby red, even when held in a strong light, even around the edges, this is one dark stout. Even though I poured roughly, the head was small on both pours, a tan colour, but very poor in my opinion.
The aroma was of burnt malts, toasted/roasted brown bread and dark chocolate. As the beer warmed, so the aromas grew in strenght.
The taste was also of dark chocolate and burnt malts, the brown bread roasted or toasted wasn't in the flavours I could detect.
Fairly dry from the tip of the tongue right through to the aftertaste. Not a rich creamy brew, it is almost watery and certainly not 'Deeply Delicious' as the label claims.
An OK Stout, and as far as I know, an OK Oatmeal Stout.

Tasted on cask at the Devonshire Cat, poured by a handpump fitted w/ a sparkler.
A: black; tightly creamy tan froth sustaining throughout the drink. Black nectar.
S: smelling lots of rich toffee, treacle, and nut-cream; intense and rich, but not overwhelming as a mildly sour edge as of coffee beans at the back keeps some balance.
T: the elements on the palate are the same as on the nose, with lots of toffee-ish sweetness to go underlined by the roastiness at the back, turning bitter as it goes; a touch of sour bitterness as of coffee beans and burned nuts linger, leading towards a bitter-sweet finish with plenty of treacle and nuttiness.
M&D: the body is much fuller than the bottled version, while the palate retains a very fresh feel as being fed by the sparkler and also the beers own fresh condition. Overall, a medium-bodied, very decent and delicious stout. Not sure about oatmeals, as theyre mixed in the blend just seamlessly.
