Tasted by a pint at the Swim Inn, a JDW pub on the West Street, Sheffield, where I often found Wentworth's seasonal/occasional brews on offer. Served on a handpump fixed with a sparkler.
A: dark golden with a brown shade, coming with a thick & creamy white froth that refuses to retreat--the work of a sparkler.
S: a light note of cream & honey comes with almost feather light lager malts... lack of hops on the nose.
T: intense toasted malts upfront, a tad sour, added with a deepening dryish mouthfeel of toastiness as well as a lingering bitter undertone--so there are considerable hops after all~~ The lovely, lingering malt aroma intensifies quietly, hand in hand with a slightly tangy/zesty kick of fruitiness.
M&D: thanks to the sparkler, the texture is soft and smooth, yet a slightly spritzy mouthfeel is retained due to the freshness of this cask, I presume. All in all, a solid light mild well worth a try!
