Tasted by a half-pint at the University Arms, Sheffield, on 6 August 2007. This was the guest ale alongside three other Thornbridge Hall's ales (regulars there!), served by a handpump w/ a sparkler.
A: dark golden in colour, with an off-whte froth; carbonation is low while a slight bit of haze lingers.
S: cane-sugary and corn-syrupy upfront, added with a light touch of caramel. Overall, the aroma is very malty, albeit given a rather light touch of sweet orangey and flowery-scented English hops.
T: the sour-sweet foretaste consists of sweet citric hops and spiciness that cut deep down the palate, underlined by lots of biscuity malts and a tart edge of nectar. As the hops and malts settle, a rather tangy+chewy citric bitterness creeps up and dominates the long, bitter finish.
M&D: a med- to full-bodied blond bitter with a moderately-fizzy texture and a sound flavour profile. The aftertaste outshines the foretaste by a good margin, and overall boasts a very impressive depth of bitterness.
