(Notes of 26/03/2007) Tasted by a half-pint at the Swim Inn, a JDW pub on West Street, Sheffield. Handpulled w/ a sparkler.
A: dark yellow-ish straw in colour, slight haze, coming with low carbonation and a thin creamy white head, leaving tight lacing behind.
S: lightly floral and sour orangey note, acidic edge of honey, grainy malts, and cane sugar. Not complex.
T: this is indeed an herbal honey beer! nectar-ish honey mixed with very light pale malts, introducing increasing dryish grassy hops and toasted grains. A weird sour tinge of herbs (thyme?) and floral flavouring and lime zest in the end to go with lingering dry-ish palate.
M&D: light-bodied, but a bit flat for a beer like this; the flavour is honey-ish and semi-herbal, quite different for a normal bitter. Maybe "thyme" is indeed used in the brew?!
