Dark brown in colour. Looked very thin whilst pouring. No head.
Gentle aroma of roasted malt.
Unexpectedly hoppy. Malt comes through easily if somewhat burnt.
Watery and flat but quite refreshing for a dark coloured ale.

Bottled
Looks very much like Cola dark brown but much lighter on the stream from the bottle
the off white head rapidly diminishes to surface only that covers about 60%
I hope this isn't flat like so many Barnsley Beers
The aroma is blackberry & lime & I'm sure I've smelled this somewhere before
Can see the coil/coal name with the flavour, a lot of carbon, scorched coffee and hints of citrus
yep, as I thought its the mouthfeel that lets it down
are all Barnsley bottles flat
but this is also painfully thin for the style & flavour

The second beer I've added and reviewed from this "Beautiful beer - Affordable prices" company.
500ml brown bottle poured into my vase shaped 'Old Speckled Hen' pint glass.
The beer is very dark ruby red in body with a creamy tan coloured head, looks a good Porter. The head stayed for the whole tasting and the beer looked just as good towards the end as it did at the begining.
The aroma was of mixed spice, the label claims the ingrediants include Star Anise, Cloves, Cinnamon, Lime leaves and dried Tangerine Peel. To be honest I struggled to find any of those in the smell.
The taste is dominated by the Star Anise, which is a flavour very simular to fennel and liquorice for those that have never heard of it.
The beer is fairly bitter in the aftertaste and dry throughout.
The body hasn't any richness or creaminess, but it does have a presence and the 3.9% abv sits nicely within the flavours.
Not bad at all for the price, not bad at all.
