brown 500ml bottle, best before 11th May 2010, drank 20th Feb 2010. Poured into my 'Old Speckled Hen' vase shaped pint glass.
Light brown in colour, clear and lively, a large off-white bubbley head sat on top. One or two bits of yeast or some other items from the grist could be seen floating within the body, no problems though.
The smell was malts and some hop dryness, a typical English Bitter aroma, meaning 'not a great amount of aromas'.
The taste was dry, with a good (low to most Americans) hop bitterness, which gave it the usual English Bitter features.
The 3.8% ABV was just right, this doesn't need any more alcohol, its body was fine and the flavours blended together very well. Not a classic English Bitter, but considering the price (£1.09 a pint), not bad at all.
