True to nature, not clarified or pasteurized. This well crafted style is the toast of Franconia, with built up effervescence, this Zwickelbier has a fully satisfying creamy mouthfeel.

Think this may have been a Scottsdale location one-off. Not super familiar with zwickelbier as a style, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I understand it to be similar to kellerbier, only less hoppy and with more carbonation, due to the fermentation vessel being capped/bunged. To my palate, this iteration didn't offer the creamy mouthfeel it promised. It also lacked any sort of a bready malt base. It was fairly bland through the start, then had a weird fruity note -- perhaps apple or pear like? -- in the finish that, to me anyway, felt out of place. A curious beer, and certainly a style I'd like to try in Franconia for reference. But something tells me this isn't what's intended.
