Our popular Pinball Pale Ale is known for its perfect balance, but here at Two Brothers, we are always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of beer character so we added blood orange to ramp up the flavor profile and bring notes of citrus to pair with Pinball's big hop profile of tropical fruit. This limited edition of Pinball Pale Ale is like being on multi-ball mode! Pinball uses five different hop varieties, all of which are added at the end of the boil or as dry hops. This helps remove some of the bitterness while allowing the sweetness to come to the forefront.
Appearance: Golden-blonde gives way to red-orange.
Taste: Pinball's balance of hops and malt is put on tilt with noticeable notes of orange and citrus. The fruit characteristics supply plenty of sweetness while the hops provide a crisp, bitter finish.
IBUs: 31.

12 oz. ca poured into a tumbler style pint glass.
Hazy golden orange with a creamy thick, sticky head leaving gobs of lace all over the inside of the glass. The aroma is strong and full of fruity esters with some subdued hops. It smells a lot like candy orange slices. Blood orange is definitely prominent, moderately bitter with clean hop flavor. Crisp with medium to high carbonation and a crisp clean finish. I have enjoyed the 6 pack that I bought but found myself having to be in the right mood for it as the blood orange fruit character is so pronounced.

Did my local, in-person trader, tone77, bring this for me? For inCANsion in The CANQuest (tm)? I CAN't remember, but I am going to credit him all the same. I am working SO hard to winnow down my backlog. 8=(

I got back to basics by Crack!ing open the vent, giving it a gentle Glug into the awaiting glass & then CANducting an in-glass swirl to raise just over a finger of fizzy, foamy, bone-white head that quickly dissipated into wisps. Color was solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was an interesting CANbination of pine mintiness & orange citrusiness with a tad bit of caramel thrown in for good measure. My maternal grandmother used to get bags of Brach's filled caramels to fill her CANdy jar when I was a young lad & my favorite thing to do was to mix 'n' match flavors, especially Orange and Mint. This smell reminded me of that! Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was less minty than full-on orange with a smidge of caramel, but it was still quite tasty. I liked its inherent bitterness without being too bitter. I CANnot vouch for much sweetness, but then again, I do not generally drink APAs & expect them to be sweet. Finish was bitter & semi-dry, about in keeping with the style. Not bad, but now I am definitely curious to try regular Pinball!

I really like the regular Pinball, and was really intrigued by this one. Smell really gives up the orange, which I like, and the color is a nice copper with a medium head. Initial taste has some orange up front, but it has a really bitter finish that isn't great (and I like bitter, hoppy beers). If it weren't for the bitter finish, would have rated higher, but probably won't be out looking for this one.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is dominated by oranges. Taste is a bit orange heavy, very light malts, fairly bitter for the style. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is an ok beer, nothing special.

Pretty good if you are looking for that orange taste. Personally I prefer the regular pinball which is one of my current favorites. This is also in a can 6 pk.
