On tap @ Finnegan's in Plainfield, IL

Appearance -- A hazy pale amber with one finger of creamy white head.

Smell -- Bready malt, faint pine resin, LOTS of lemon.

Taste -- There's the slightest shadow of the base beer, Domaine DuPage, with it's raisin and plum malt sweetness and spicy hops. On top of this is strong saltiness and bright, acidic lemon tartness. Just awful.

Mouthfeel -- Medium in body with moderate prickly carbonation and strong astringency.

Drinkability -- What a disappointment! I'm fairly sure this was infected, what with the strong salty/lemon notes. If this were in a bottle I would not have reviewed it, but given that I consumed this at a bar within a half-hour drive from the brewery, and the review below (from DC) shares most of the same descriptors, this must be what passes for an acceptable release of this beer.

Shame on you, Two Bros, for putting out such a terrible iteration of what should be your flagship beer!

From 7/9/10 notes. Had at a local DC tasting thanks to Nimbleprop. Apparently Two Brothers makes a beer called Public Domaine, and then does different things to them to make them all slightly different. We tried this one side by side with the Public Domaine + 10 (had Bret added to it). Unfortunately it appears as though this one got infected.

a - Pours a golden-reddish color with 2 inches of white head.

s - Smells as though it might have bret in it, which is not a good thing considering it isn't suppose to. Also some lemon and wheat.

t - Taste is quite sour; this definitely must be infected. Has a lactose taste to it.

m - Light to medium body and moderate carbonation.

d - Unfortunately this growler must have been infected. Would be willing to try a clean batch of it.

I had this on tap at Whole Foods into a pint glass.

The beer pours gold with slight visibility, about two fingers of white head, ok lacing and retention.

The aroma is light, a little sweet, apples, aprictos and a slight oak finish.

The taste is super sweet, probably too sweet for me. Its almost like drinking juice, not a ton of oak to break up the sweetness.

Ok feel, easy to drink.
