Off tap at Boston Blackie's in Chicago this brew (contract brewed for the establishment) was a light amber color that displayed retention of its head as a tiny collar that left scattered lacing. The aroma was of light wood, toasted malt, and a small presence of caramel malt. The flavors were a great blend of toasted malt, caramel malt, hints of maple, some light nuttiness and a clean finish provided by just enough hops to make it crisp. Some nice notes of butter appeared as it warmed up. The mouthfeel was smooth, the body medium and the carbonation perfect. A great session beer and a joy to discover while on vacation.
