Served from a cask into a pint glass in London. Cost was 3.30 pound, which I thought was rather steep (though cost never affects my ratings). Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a half finger head of nice soft cream, fair thickness, and good retention. Colour is a solid nontransparent black.
Sm: Lots of chocolate, heavy roast, milk, cream, and light coffee. Aroma is mild in strength.
T: Chocolate, roast, light coffee, and a bit of toffee. Less complex than it sounds, and a bit watery truth be told. Stale barley destroys the finish. It's badly built for a stout, and imbalanced at that.
Mf: Smooth and wet. Not at all complementary of the flavours.
Dr: It's difficult to drink on account of its bankrupt flavour, but its ABV is on the lower end, and it comes at a standard London price. The chocolate is nice, but the beer would be better on draught. Suck it, CAMRA.

Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Black (and I mean BLACK) colour, even when held to the light. Aroma has some dark chocolate, coffee and wood. Roast malt flavour. Hints of tar in the finish. Dry, woody aftertaste. This is not a stout of the "smooth and velvety" kind, but an interesting aquaintance indeed!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
