neat beer here, simple but complex at the same time, subtly unique, ive long been a lover of italian craft beer. this is rustic lager, unfiltered, majorly earthy, unique on the hop side and maybe hoppy than some of its peers, an absolutely killer pizza beer, which comes as no surprise. cool packaging, pretty pour, a low glow blonde color with some light haziness to it and a popping almost inch of white head, looks good in the glass, active. the aroma is distinctive, the barley malt is crackery and dry, with subtle spiciness almost like a pale rye thing, bready but not dense. the hops have some grassy character and a little spice too, bitterness is mellow, and there is an impressive freshness to it. the yeast smells old worldy, distinctive, and the whole thing is sort of pils-esque to me, a little more rustic overall i suppose, but its in that vein. the flavor is round and soft and it comes in waves, a little nuttiness to the malt now, some protein type richness, deeply earthy and mineral forward. then the hops hit, a little peppery and herbal, carrying on into the finish where the yeast cleans the whole thing up pretty quickly. its punctuated by festive carbonation, and it goes down easy, trace back end sweetness is pleasant. great with sourdough pizza crust, fatty gooey cheese, the little burnt bubbles on edges even, hot chili flakes, this seems built for good pizza! a delicious and crushable lager, bummed i only bought a single. lots of personality in this one, recommended!
