I had this at the brewery, highly recomended visit BTW. It pours a deep black that throws up a solid tan head that hangs out for a little while. Nice ruby tints can be seen arounf the edges. It smells great of hearty malt roasted mixed well with some coffee and noble hops pop out. The taste is loaded up with roasted malt backed well with caramel and coffee and creaminess that lingers in the mouth and imparts a dryness with the beautiful fruityness from maybe the hops and some yeast esters. It is creamy and dry but slightly chewy and very lovely. I could drink this all day and with two cases in my cellar I often will.

I was very interested in this beer because it is very local to me and had the famous "Clustered Spires of Frederick" on the bottle. When I poured it out, I first noticed a burnt coffee smell. The head was thin with a dark cream color and the beer it is self was a dense black. I tasted hints of coffee and some sort of nut possibly. It is a dry stout which goes nicely with the flavor notes of caramel and bitter chocolate.

Thank you, Jay. Aroma is roast, coffee, cocoa and mildly of raisins. Body is flat black and holds a slowly diminishing thumb thick mocha head. Fore is heavily of cocoa, chocolate, riasin, treacle/molasses. Has a rich black chocolate bitterness and momentarily touches on blueberries as well. Not really the flavor I expect from a dry Stout, but the flavor I got was pretty damn nice. Very good beer.

A gift from higravity (thanks for the opportunity), reviewed from notes. Pours a thin brown head over a pitch black liquid. Smells dry coffee roast with some chocolate and malt sweet. Tastes dry roast coffee Nice toffee undertones balance and a dry cocoa powder play in, too. Caramel base serves really well to fill this beer out. Little bit of grassy, my guess would be from fuggles hops. Hint of black patent edge (ie, a sour character, like you'd find in a sour cherry). Md thick chewy mouthfeel and mild (but sharp) carbonation. A very enjoyable stout.

poured a very dark brown, almost black color with stingy tannish head, that was able to last throughout the glass. Smell is of chocolate, coffee, toasted malt and thoroughly enjoyable. Taste is strong for coffee and chicory, with a nice hop dryness in the background. Finishes mildly dry with coffee flavors lingering. A very good beer with easy drinkability.

12 oz bottle pours a dark black with a huge foamy light brown head that leaves a sticky lacing in my glass, roasty chocolate-coffee aromas. Roasted burnt chocolate coffee flavors, nice bitter-sweet flavors, good roasted bitterness in the dry finish. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel, not bad.

Poured a small, dense foamy head that faded quickly to a scattered film. Solid aroma of cocoa, coffee, and vanilla is quite inviting. Opaque black beer with a mahoganny hue around the edges. Mouthfeel is silky smooth while the body is fluffily full. Barely sweet roasted malt up front becomes moderately bitter towards the end. It's a kind of ashy bitterness that gives way to cocoa coated raisins in the end. A solid all around stout that I would definitely come back to.

Blue Ridge Steeple Stout delivers an opaque black body with gleaming mahogany highlights beneath a short head of creamy dark tan foam. The head retention is limited and it drops shortly to a think collar, leaving only minor lace behind. The nose is roasty with notes of dark chocolate and coffee; and it's lightly creamy and smooth in the mouth. The flavor delivers a beautifully balanced maltiness that teeters between roastiness and caramel. A subtle yeasty fruitiness keeps just below the radar; and it's backed by a firm bitterness that leads to a dry and roasty finish. Overall, a solid stout.

An incredible stout! Appears a black, ruby around the edge color.Roasty, grainy smell. Possibly oats? Tastes like boldly roasted grain, espresso and cream with a nice balance of hop finish to compliment. They jam-packed this beer as full of malt as possible without having to chew it. To compare to other beers maybe a oatmeal/emperial/sweet stout. The mouthfeel is more thick and creamy than any beer I can think of, but it feels like I could drink another. I highly recommend picking this up if it is available to you. I just bought a case, and that is something I very rarely do. It is seasonal, origanally brewed for St Patty's Day according to the bottle.

This brew pours a medium head of mostly lasting brown bubbles and a opaque black colored body. It has a strong alcohol aroma and a coffee flavor. It was a very enjoyable brew that I would definately like to buy again. This beer was named after the many church steeples in Frederick, Maryland where this stout is brewed.

This was a pretty good Stout. Pours a dark black/mahogany color with a thick light brown head. Decent lacing. Pleasant coffee dominates the aroma. The flavor is a well-balanced roasty mixture of coffee, malt and caramel. This is right there with Bell's Java Stout in the coffee flavoring, and it is still present in the finish. I liked this, and it is not very expensive either.

Not a bad stout. I was hoping for a little more "umph," but still a good and drinkable brew! It pours nice and dark, with a very good head on it. I have had stouts with better aroma however, and the head went "bye-bye" way too quickly. But still worth trying. Prost!

Im pretty sure this one was flat but according to the bottle it was only filled two months ago...hmmm. No head at all, deep black oil-like color. Infact looks like dirty valvoline in a glass. Aromas stayed though everything else seemed to go sour. Aromas of sweet chocolate with a kick of roasted coffee at the end. Mostly sweet flavor--no real bitterness. Id be interested to here what kind style this is suppose to be. Not really an irish, cream, or imperial...actually on second thought it tastes almost like a blend of all three. Mouthfeel is like heavy water. No real feel at all.

I think this might actually be a damn good beer if this one I had was flat. If I try it again I will definetly correct my review should I find different.
