Rebellion Brewing Company takes the theme of the American Revolution, and while there weren't any historical battles fought nearby during that time period, there is a little history lesson; Rebellion Brewing is housed in the old Cedarburg Mill built in 1855. Entering this taproom is an adventure; look for signs near the property to take you to the entrance of the taproom. It's a scenic walk as you go past a city park, the Milwaukee River flowing downwards, a beer garden intimately guarded on multiple sides of the building, and finally the little bridge inside the mill which leads you to an extra large wooden door which opens up to the taproom.
Stone interior, feeling bone dry and cozy inside. A small bar where you can sit at or order drink, and the beer menu is over a dozen house beers. Styles are subdivided into multiple categories, and among the beers pouring were Boston Tea Party (Scottish Ale), Potomoc Porter, Liberty IPA, Florida Fever (pale ale). Nothing stronger than an IPA from Rebellion, although Founder Breakfast Stout attempts to fill that void as a guest beer. I got good old fashioned friendly service from the bartender as well as answering my question between the difference of their Minute Man IPA and Liberty IPA.
At this point, Rebellion Brewing Company would be a fun place to be at. How about the beer quality? With what I tasted,, meh. Potomoc Porter is a solid porter, however Minute Man IPA tasted like the hops weren't ready to come out and party.
Great location and surroundings with middling beer. Come once to check out the mill and grab a drink.
