Presentation: An afternoon in Sowerby Bridge was soon supplanted with a few beers in Halifax and a visit to an old favorite the Three Pigeons. Several Ossett Brewery beers were listed on the blackboard, but I opted for one which I had tricked before, Ossett Oregon, at 4.7% ABV its a high strength Cask Ale yet it comes at a very reasonable £1.95 a Pint.
Appearance: Pale golden body, straw hints glint below the pure bleached white head. Creamy top stays around and leaves some nice lacing as I work my way down the brew.
Nose: Lemon and hints of herbs with a citric background. Medium strength nose from the Cask, but deep inhalations reap some reward.
Taste: Hoppy entrance with a lot of Willamette Valley hops punching the start with a fruity entrance. Sharp citric middle with a lemon tinged centre-piece and a gorgeously bitter finish. Clean and very crisp.
Mouthfeel: Big feel with a supporting definition from the fine-tuned conditioning that fills out the spaces and bolsters the body.
Drinkability: Fresh and drinkable, the strength is there, and it shows in the back end but the freshness and rich crisp hoppiness snaps in the finish and trademarks the Oregon.
Overall: Solid brew that ripens with a definitive American slant. Top Drawer!
