On cask at the John Hewitt, Belfast
Pours with a rich deep copper body, slightly hazy. Dense caramel tinged white head with good retention, small but perfectly formed. Lots of rings of lacing up and down the glass
Smell, rich sticky musty malt character, slightly choking. Marris otter and a few specialty grains, some milder crystal. Some slight english hop aroma although its subtle. Caramel and toffee aromas
Taste, crisp and rich biscuity malt. Lots of musty malt, makes up the majority of the flavour. Kicked into touch by some well placed hop bitterness, quite sharp, almost harsh. Fading hops and some smokey malt on the finish
A very traditional english bitter. Very malty and musty with some sharp bitterness, definitely worth a try
