Handpump half-pint at the White Horse.
A: Clear deep amber body under a thin cap of frothy off-white foam. Mediocre retention and lacing. Average.
S: Umm... This is going to sound bad, and I don't hate this beer, but all I can smell is apple juice and stale urine. It's like someone spilled a juicebox in a subway station. Weird, and not good.
T: I still get some apple, but thankfully the urine is left to the aroma. The apple juice is joined by caramel malt up front, and both are supplanted by a clean, bitter, piney hop finish. Solid for the style, actually.
M: Sticky medium body, light carbonation. Ok.
O: If it weren't for the disgusting aroma, this would have been a thoroughly decent example of its style. As it is, I'll never even dream of ordering this again.
Cheers!
