Served at the Jindaiji temple complex--not sure if it's served anywhere else. Slightly heavier and more flavorful than the standard Japanese lager. It's all about the set and setting: the fantastic temple complex, the outdoor buckwheat soba restaurant, the pet cemetery (!), etc. Just a magical experience, and the beer is part of it. As with all Japanese lagers, its bitterness cuts the saltiness of the food really nicely.

Thank Alex. Consumed on 11/22/2009 in a snifter. Pours golden with a creamy frothy white head, decent retention, and a little lacing. The nose is ferrous grainy malt. It reminds me of sweet cereal bran flakes. It's horrid. The flavor has that same disgusting iron in it. The malt is cloying cereal grain. The finish tastes like blood. Don't drink this.

This has to be one of the few beers on the planet that is named after a buddhist temple. Hey we all have to find our own way to nirvana, right.

Huge aggressive bubbles, honey brown body, pure white head.
Upfront bread crust aroma.
Dry malty flavor, big bitterness. Not much of an after taste.
Agressive carbonation takes away from this beer.

I cant put my finger on it, but something about this beer reminds me of sausages.
