After the excellent tour of Tucker's Maltings in Newton Abbott we all settled down to some Devonshire Prize Ale, produced using Tucker's malts by Teignworthy, who share the same building.
The beer pour a ruddy brown with a finger of long-lasting and well-lacing white head. The aroma is pleasant and generically malty with slightly sweet herbal hopping. While the flavours don't push any boundaries they are superbly balanced. Strong biscuit flavours mix with fruit and caramel, before climaxing in a floral, lightly bitter finish. The body is medium and the carbonation a little below that. This is a well-done session ale, and showcases the malt well. Good job!
