Blind-tasted excl name/style/ABV%.
L- At first glance it's black but (as often found) held in front of a halogen bulb it is ultra deep garnet red. Appears clear with a good looking 3mm thick dense small-bubble deep tan cap. It's holding well as well, nice.
S- Very deep roast aspect with a coffee facet.
T- Boom! Mega roast, seriously deep, charry into fleeting hints of mocha and smoke. I served this fridge cold and it would have been a better starting point to serve a touch warmer, it's flavour would perhaps be opening up even more.
F- It is certainly impactful, at 5% I'm struck by how the bold taste does not make the Feel seem over-light in comparison, but it doesn't. It doesn't come over as huge on malts, but importantly it feels in no way 'thin'; clever balancing. It would make a great winter 'slow-sippin'' beer, probably go well with some blue cheese too.
O- It's a very well brewed and balanced beer. I get no rough edges or facets I don't like. For a 5% stout it makes a huge impact. It would be a blast to see this beer brewed at say 8%, as I don't doubt the taste has the capacity to still balance up there somewhere. I'm not a born stout drinker though appreciate an occasional good one. At times I do I wonder 'What would a fan of Guinness make of this?'. That question applies here, this is galaxies better than 'that factory beer'.
Bought from Hauxton (Cambs) Food + Craft market. The brewery has a schedule around county-wide local markets listed on their website.
Considering the brewery was only est in 2022, this very accomplished brew is really quite something.
Rating/review done, now checking lable: = There is sediment accreted to the bottom of the bottle, well it didn't lift for me after a few days resting. 500ml They say they are a micro. Unfiltered, all natural. Contains barley, wheat and oat malts.
Bottled: 5/7/2024, consumption suggested within 12months, well, no problem there.
