Cask. Red ale according to the clip. Sparkler used. Clear, medium amber with a thick creamy head. Lacing that adheres nicely around the glass.
Quite a sweet, rich malty aroma which runs into it's flavour. Quercus noted. A nice bitter finish.
Very smooth cask conditioned feel.
Snow forecast later. This will do nicely until then.

S- Xmas puddingy rich smell. i.e rich crystallised fruits.
L- Clear as a bell, there is no sediment in this. Rich chestnut red/brown. Head clears quickly to lacing.
T- Rich bitter/sour then deep roasted toasty malts. Granny isn't shy about making her presence felt.
M- It is rich, and at times you get a sweet edge, but against the solid body it seems to balance. Good ongoing carbonation on the tongue.
O- Interesting find that I bought today from the Co-op convenience shop at Norwich station. [the brewery being c12 miles SW of Norwich down the A11].

500ml Bottle conditioned: BBD end of Aug 2013. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 20 Jun 2013.
No sediment left the bottle: A beige creamy head sat on top of a brown body with a red hue to it.
Sweet malty nose and taste: caramel with nuts. Balanced by some fairly bitter hops towards the end of each sip.
Good body depth, rich and full of malty flavours: a very good beer from a brewery that always seems to impress me.

Tasted this beer by half-pint at the recent Catford Beerfestival in SE London. Attracted by the beer''s clueless name, I was more than brave to try it, or was I not, as I'm not a Granny anyway?!
Appearance: served by gravity from the firkin, it pours a ruby, dark reddish-brown hue with a sparse head.
Aroma: sweetish nutty (hazelnuts) and mixed with some spicy note. Very malty and a bit like "Chinese pinenut-cake" (something akin to muffin). Quite aromatic and very straight-forward malty as well.
Taste: chest-nutty throughout...very very pleasantly nutty malts on the tongue, immediately followed by a pungent and sharp, dryish aftertaste of bitterness. At the back of the throat there is a bit of feel of sweet version of Madeira-wine, though not extremely lingering.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: rich bodied and rich flavoured, with a refreshing touch of bitterness, it's definitely not a simply overpowering malty beer. Certainly my Granny wouldn't like it, as she doesn't drink beer at all, but I find it a really good and satisfying brew to enjoy especially in the early evening.
