On cask at Belfast Beer Festival, 2016.
Chocolate-amber with ring of tan film. 3.75
Chocolate, red currant, a bit of wood. 4
Dark caramel, cola, carob, licorice, and tea, with a slightly minty linger. 3.75
Almost medium, round, chewy. 4
Fuller body, lesser flavor than Black Stallion. Anise and dark fruit more than chocolate. A bit tannic, but a nice mild. 4

This review is from the 30th CAMRA Cotswold beer Fest.
Up against Bateman's Dark Mild, it came second in my opinion.
Red-Black in colour with no head (it was gravity feed into my glass, by a lady who was not too great at the job).
The aroma was there, but you had to search for it, roasted malt maybe, a touch of berry's, not sure which type.
Tasted like a Mild should, malty and a hint of caramel.
I will have another if our paths cross, but I will not be searching high and low for it!

Tasted by half-pint at the Ealing beerfest., 11/05/06, gravity dispensed.
A: very dark brownish hue, coming with little head as anticipated from a gravity-dispensed ale.
S: earthy, inky, slightly roasty smell of dark malts, plus a deep scent of a kind of Chinese herb-jelly (Mesona chinensis Benth) and a little burnt and salty edge.
T: lively-carbonated, very deep bitter-sweet burnt flavour with a flat, grainy and intriguingly salty aftertaste.
M&D: very smooth and rather thin-bodied as a Mild should be; this one really lacks preferable complexity, albeit quaffable.

The colour is black with a tint of brown-red; the liquid is clear. The head is not muck of a head, more like a beige ring.
The smell got a bitter-fruity note of grape fruit (Challenger hops) and some sweetness.
The taste is very hoppy, but not that bitter. I noticed flavours of plums and salt roasted malt. The taste is not that potent but it is quite heavy and a bit Oily. There are some growing bitter notes in the aftertaste and a growing flavour of black coffee.
The carbonation is light, but at the same time quite strong for a cask-conditioned beer.
Dark mild ale is one of my favourite styles, but I must say that the name is far more interesting then the beer.

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. One of the craziest beer names so far - chris_o told me its adopted from a Cream song (I guess I should have known that). Dark brown colour, low head, some natural carbonation. According to the CBF programme its "a little too hoppy to be a classic mild" - still it is not VERY hoppy, just the typical Southern English dusty hoppiness. Aroma and flavour are malty with some caramel (but not really sweet), some cola notes.

Sampled at the Luton Real Ale Festival.
This mild ale poured a cloudy, dark coffee brown color (with some red highlights if held to the light), with brown foam that settled to a thin layer. The smell was a nice, piney hops aroma with some dark malt tones. The taste was dominated by piney hops with some dark malt. The hops were present throughout with hints of sweetness and with some fruit and caramel. A surprisingly strong flavor for a mild ale. The mouthfeel was smooth with medium body and low carbonation. The flavors of piney hops and dark malt persisted. This was quite a hoppy mild ale and very flavorful at only 3.8% abv. Very nice.

Quite nice. Light chocolate and caramel flavours as you'd expect in a mild, with a touch of late roastyness (as i also expect in the darker milds). Some light hop bitterness at the end. Simple, quite subtle, delicate, but very enjoyable (Cask KentBF 03')
