Enjoyed a pint of this wholesome goodness at the Brewery. Without any real feedback from the brewery about this brew, I beleive that they described it as their standard Oatmeal Stout aged in a Jack Daniels whisky barrel for 10 months. The oatmeal stout qualities stood up well to the alcoholic dominant barrel, offereing a very rounded and smooth texture while allowing the flavors and aromas of the barrels to shine. It adds complex flavors of wood, nuts, cherries, tartness, and a sherry-like intensity and sweetness. The aging purged out any meaningful carbonation or head retention, but showed nice legging on the sniffer. Very rich and complex flavors; I just wish the body could have offered more.
