Skaggs Stout

From the very first batches of beer we made, we always wanted to name a beer after Skaggs Road. This wouldn’t just be any beer; it would be dark, robust, and have some meat on it’s body. The kind of beer you could lean on when things got tough, and it would lean back with confidence. To accomplish this, we got to work on endowing it with all the attributes we knew it would need. For the chewy mouthfeel, a mighty heaping of oats was laced into the choice array of specialty malt; on the hot side, a bit of milk sugar to give it that extra oomph. IBUs and SRM were kept relatively low in order to preserve the sweet body, yet there is no question the stout offers generous notes of chocolate roast. Yes, that rhymed.
