Ellicottville Brewing Co. "Mosaic Sunrise IPA"
12 fl. oz brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON 10/05/17 B253 10:14" and sampled on 04/08/18
$1.83 @ Cherry Hill Liquor, Wine & Beer (Wegmans), Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Mosaic Sunrise - sounds awesome! Mosaic hops are some of my favorites. And 6% ABV is much more drinkable, at least in volume, than so many of the stronger IPAs out there. So let's take a look at it... it's a hazy yellow-gold with some orange notes in the wider upper parts of the glass, and the head is a finger-thick cap of bright white froth. The aroma is neither as "Big & Bright" as I though it would be but this bottle is 6 months old so I'll have to give it the benefit of the doubt. What I'm finding is pineapple, citrus, and pine. On to the flavor... yep, pretty much the same as expected. I do wish it was a little more hoppy though, but it's not bad as a basic fruity IPA. The grainy malt is only lightly sweetish, and a firm bitterness keeps it in check and brings it to a mostly dry, median-bitter finish. In the mouth it's medium bodied with a but of a dextrinous feel, and gently crisp. I almost wish it was less bitter, which is odd to say, but my rational is that there's not quite enough fruity hoppiness there and perhaps less bitterness would take it more towards being a "juicy", "hazy", or "New England IPA". As it is it's OK, but kind of lackluster. Average.

Skip.
a) Flat yellow, small white head that disappears, not a looker. tea.
s) hops, fruit, juicy.
t) Mosaic hops are nice. But slight artifice.
f): Light body, with little carbonation, and finishes in dryness.

This was a real pleasant beer, all around. It pours a nice light gold with a slim head, and a nice aromatic smell with floral and tropical hops. This goes down incredibly smooth, too.

Deep golden color, the color of a pale ale. Smells incredible, like a basket of citrus fruit a testament to the Mosaic hops. Taste is well balanced, there is something that tastes "fake" about the hop additions. That's my only knock, it really is a good tasting beer. Nice full body. Definitely worth a try.
