Sounded interesting, so I picked up one 12 oz 2018 bottle. Poured assertively to a snifter. Created a three finger bubbly head which faded after a few seconds to nothing. No ring or lacing. Dark brown color. Aroma was practically non-existent...possibly almost-cured asphalt? First sips were terrible: no peanut butter, no chocolate, no porter flavor. Basically, it tasted like what I imagine that sludge build up in pipes would taste like, were it bottled. Mouthfeel was full, which could have been satisfying, were it not for the abysmal taste in my mouth. I was not expecting something extraordinary, but hoped this local brewer would have put up a better example. I literally poured it down the drain after three mouthsfull. Southern Tier is a good example of a WNY brewery that makes fun but solid beverages. Maybe the folks at Ellicottville should make a road trip...
Updated addition: Just wanted to balance my disdain for this beer with a note that their chocolate cherry bomb is 180 degrees different. That is a solid offering to be tried, but this 1/2 baked PBP is half-baked and should be decommissioned.

-Peanut butter porter, with dark chocolate, roasted peanuts.
A: Beautiful oily dark roast pour produces a one and a half inch dark khaki head that was spongy textured but quick to dissipate leaving a small brass ring lacing.
S: Earthy moist soil, peat, and some black licorice first arrives on the nose. Dry roasted peanut shells, but nothing that really stands out and demands your attention. No real peanut butter aroma, with a below average awareness factor. Some dark chocolate peeks through, but again very modest in nature and have to struggle to appreciate. Final thoughts of oily roast are still not enough to impress. Wish there was more here.
T: Some dark fruit, prunes, dark chocolate and black licorice for flavor. Oily roast follows with a soft detail of charred character. Roasted barley adds a smokey touch along with some vanilla-coconut hints. Vanilla creamer, roasted peanuts with a bit of burnt caramel sweetness.
M: Oily roast mouthful, good body depth, very slick and smooth texture with almost no carbonation texture.
O: A bit of a let down. No real peanut butter character, even the roasted peanuts were vague and not really contributing. Oily with some dry smoke, vanilla and caramel sweetness. Not a badly brewed beer, just a bit underwhelming in terms of anticipation. Earthy some chocolate sweetness but really didn't make a strong impression that enticed you to continue drinking. Ok drinkability, just nothing to get excited about.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, chocolate. Taste is very sweet, chocolate, roasted malts, light peanut butter. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer, but I was hoping for a little more peanut butter.

This beer reminds me of my childhood. Remember Mary Jane candies and Squirl Nut. They both had a peanut taste that was kinda weird. Thats exactly how this beer taste. You either love it or its kind of weird.

Comes in a pitch black color with a foamy brown head that fizzles away instantly. A thin ring remains, leaving bits of spotty lacing.
Smells like dark chocolate, roasted nuttiness, brown bread, burnt toast, and perhaps a touch of vanilla.
Tastes upfront of dark chocolate, burnt toast, toffee, and roasted grains. Mild peanut on the finish, finishing lightly sweet.
Feels medium, well-carbonated, slick but moves quickly. Finishes just lightly sweet.
Overall, just an okay porter. Not bad, but not much peanut flavor.

An okay porter that had a nice feel and delivered many of the qualitys that make a decent porter. It fell short on the peanut butter taste but still a decent porter

Growler poured into a snifter.
3.5 A: Black color. One finger of frothy light brown head. Retention is a touch below average and wisps of spotty lacing are left behind.
3.5 S: This delivers on the description. Peanuts and roasted barley upfront, though I'd prefer a stronger peanut aroma. Clean and grainy overall with hints of molasses and smoky wood.
3.25 T: There isn't as much nuttiness in the taste however. Indeed it tastes much like a run of the mill porter, which isn't a bad thing. Mildly sweet with neutral malt flavor. Roastiness, molasses, and caramel.
3.25 M: Medium body. Slick, oily feel rather than being creamy. Just a hair undercarbonated, but appropriate coming from a growler.
3.5 D: It's a solid enough beer, just wish they took the peanuts to the next level.

Great beer! Pours a brown hue with a tan head. Smells of milk chocolate, oak, malt, and a feint smell of roasted coffee. Taste is milk chocolate upfront with a creamy peanut butter aftertaste. A very rich and creamy porter that hides the ABV well. Probably one of the best peanut butter porters I've ever had!
