True to its name, Ellicottville Brewing Co.’s Fistful of Peel Citrus IPA is brewed with fistfuls of zesty orange, tart grapefruit and lively lime peel. Loads of Centennial & Citra hops and the finest Canadian barley deliver tangy, sharp hop flavor which compliment the bright citrus rind notes. Fistful of Peel is an amazingly light-bodied- but high-gravity - flavor crusher.

From a 12 ounce bottle, poured into a stemmed glass. Orange in color, slight head that dissipates way too quickly. The citrusy aroma is strong and tempting. The first sip has plenty of hops and citrus flavors, nice tongue feeling, not to bitter, nice muting of the 8% abv. Very tasty Imperial IPA. The only low mark is for the lack of a good head on the beer.

L: Hazy orange-amber with a small but tight white head. Medium retention, with some spotty lacing left behind.
S: Big candied citrus peel sweet. Lots of orange and grapefruit with a little bit of the lime. Very malt with lots of toasted biscuit and caramel, and a little pine.
T: Big pop of orange, grapefruit, and lime peel upfront, tart and juicy. Then the malt comes in, big and caramelly. There's a touch of pine and a pop of bitterness, but then it trails off to a chemical, medicinal tasted, like lime-flavored Novacaine.
F: Medium-plus bodied, smooth throughout, moderate carbonation.
O: An okay-ish citrus-fruited DIPA. Not bad, but not that good, either.
