An Irish-style stout that's rich, silky and smooth, with enchanting notes of coffee, vanilla, and oak. Brewed with locally-roasted, fresh-as-can-be coffee bean, and blended with whiskey barrel aged beer for a truly magical concoction.

On tap at Ellicottville Brewing in Ellicottville, NY. This appears to be an update to Black Magic now that Ellicottville bought out the rights to Empire Brewing.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like freshly roasted coffee, vanilla, smoke, roasted malt, and chocolate.

This is much, much better than I expected, given previous experiences with Black Magic from the Empire days. The coffee character is very nice, roasty, fresh, vibrant, with some vanilla and fruitiness, along with a nice roasty character and some smoke. There's a touch of oak, but not much actual bourbon character.

This is a little bit thin, but not watery, with a great drinkability to it.

This is the best beer I've had yet from either Ellicottville or Empire. I really enjoyed it.

Taster at EBC. Black pour, small foamy beige head. Roast Malt aroma, sweet notes. Taste is equally parts roasty and sweet before drying out at the finish.
