Pumpkinville Latte – Whiskey Barrel Aged from Ellicottville Brewing Company. 16 oz can from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at store, purchased 01/08/23, $ 4 (Including tax), $ 0.25/fl oz. Reviewed 04/09/23 (Review 3142). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on the bottom of the can “LVB 14 072121”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 47.8 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 59.3 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.5
First pour – Pale Amber (SRM 9), clear.
Body – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, same.
Head: Average (Maximum 3.3 cm, aggressive center pour), almond, high density, quickly contracting to a 0.2 cm crown and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Smoke and oak barrels. No yeast, no malt, no hops, no pumpkin, no vanilla. No ethanol (6.5 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4.5 – Slightly sweet with smoke and mulled spices, roasted pumpkin in the background – I can’t separate distinct spice flavors here. No yeast, no malt. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Slight gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; slightly creamy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Despite the lack of lacing, this is a beautiful clear amber and screams “DRINK ME!”: great appearance. Despite the can being two years old, I tried it and loved it! (I’ll be going back to Marty’s and buying more). The whiskey is mellow, the spices well-blended, the alcohol low, and the oak barrels add an excellent touch of terroir. Absolutely the best beer I’ve ever had from Ellicottville!

I’m not a big fan of pumpkin beers but was intrigued with the description of coffee, pumpkin and whiskey aging. The pumpkin and spices did not overwhelm but tasted like pie with a cup of coffee spiked with bourbon. Very nicely done.

Pours a deep burnt orange with a creamy billowing off white head that slowly settles into a frothy mass atop.Roasted pumpkin is the main component in the nose wich is a great thing, underlying vanilla, and graham cracker comes thru as well.Flavors of the roasted pumpkin, vanilla, and a tinge of cinnamon/nutmeg stand out with just a tinge of the whiskey barrel in the back end.My only issue is it's a bit thin for the rich flavors going on but this a really nice seasonal fall beer.

16OZ. can
Served in a Cleveland Browns pint glass

This beer pours amber with a slight haze. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves little lacing.

The smell is quite nice. I get pumpkin pie and coffee. Two wonderful smells. I can even smell pie crust.

I get pumpkin pie flavor with hints of whiskey. Coffee flavor is milder than I was led to believe in the aroma. Opens up more as it warms

Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel

I like the combination of flavors. Better than a lot of pumpkin beers out there.

Pours a dark amber. Sweet coffee aroma. Medium foam. An explosion of different flavors. Pumpkin, coffee, brown sugar and cinnamon. Sweet but not too sweet. Light whiskey finish. A lot going on but we'll balanced. An excellent pumpkin ale.

16 ounce can, canned on 07/21/21. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like pumpkin, pumpkin spices, vanilla, whiskey and coffee. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some caramel and brown sugar flavors noticeable too. It's a mostly sweet tasting brew, but not overpoweringly so. Good amount of barrel character here. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. Easy and enjoyable to drink. I thought this was a good whiskey barrel aged pumpkin ale, wouldn't mind trying this again in the future!
